Great news first of all!!! The organizers of the Hudson Valley Hikers, the Hiking and Nature and the Next Adventure and Hiking meetups and their respective groups will be joining us! This will be the first time that all of our hiking groups get together under one roof (sky).

Second, this place is huge and it is hard to find people there. If you can't find me which you probably won't, just call me, [masked]. I'll tell you which table we're at. I will try to make a sign to make it easier to find us but can't guarantee that. So just write down my number.

This is an awesome outdoor beer garden. We'll be there from 7:00 until probably 11pm or if Chris Baker has his way, 2am. Hopefully the weather cooperates. This place is a real beer garden and all the tables are outdoors except for a small bar. Beer is really cheap.

Please, bring your ID, they are very very strict about IDs at this place. They won't let anyone in without one. I have seen them turn down grandmas because they didn't carry their IDs. Ridiculous but those are the rules.

How to get there:

N or Q train to Astoria Blvd. Get off the station and walk north to 24th ave and then make a left. The beergarden is easy to find after that.

Well, I think the best way to get an accurate count of the number of people is to add all the YES RSVPs from the groups and reduce that number by a 1/3 which is probably the accurate amount of overlapping members we have who have RSPVd to the event in more than one group. Therefore I figure something close to 175 might be it if all the YES RSVPs show up which would be an awesome number!

First of all, if anyone wants to out of getting emailed everytime someone comments just go to your profile in this meetup and change your mail settings to not receive any emails when someone comments on an event. This way there will be no more emails from me or any of these other crazy people.

Seconds, the rain will likely wither away those who are not outdoorsy people. Leaving on the outdoorsy people to hang out!

Julie, it is wicked witches that melt in the rain. Hikers just get hypothermia which is why it is important to wear synthetic clothing. Remember COTTON KILLS!!!

In case it does rain, let me quote Francisco's words as both advice and a warning: "COTTON KILLS" ;)

As campers I am sure we all have some scotch guard on hand we can simply spray ourselves with. It works against mosquitos also.

Well, most of the tables have an umbrella in case it rains. Everytime we have met at the beer garden this summer we have had a weather forecast calling, every single time there has been a 5 minute drizzle and that was it. Bring a rain coat I guess? Anyhow we will just move under the covered of the beer garden and keep partying there if it does rain which I highly doubt.

    I am Francisco MacLeod!
Anyway, Chris Baker, if you are up for, then I am up for it. The beer garden closes at 3am. Let's see how many of you guys can stay up that late on a school day. Let's aim to stay until last call! Maybe we can follow up with some late night food in Astoria unless we are too drunk to stay awake!

I heard Don King is promoting it as: THE LEAN MEAN HIKING MACHINE MELEE IN QUEENS - It's about to get gory in Astoria. If you can't make it in person, call your cable subscriber now.

Also kidding aside. Some of the people coming in are driving from far out of the city into Queens. If the need comes up could any of you host one or two stragglers from out of town if it gets too late to drive back to their places or if they are too tipsy? Let me know.
