Pemi Loop and other hikes in NH

We are going to camp out at Hancock Campground. Make your way to Lincoln, NH and drive then 5 miles on the Kancamagus Highway until you hit Hancock Campground.

Here is a link the driving directions from NY:

http://goo.gl/maps/8gHR

I want to do the Pemi Loop this year. The Pemi Loop is 32 mile of awesome painful stuff. Only those in shape should do it. If you have never done at least a 25 mile hike you shouldn't come on this. All those coming are responsible for getting in and out by themselves.

Those of you looking for easier stuff are welcome to come and do shorter day hikes.

For the Pemi Loop, I am looking for a 3am start. For the other hikes, you can arrange those on the message board.

We will also provide support for Pablito and Natan doing the 50 mile painFULL hut to hut traverse.

Thanks,

Francisco

Hi jooy, and anyone else who might be reading this,

Carla and I. Are in tensile 11, and we are holding down tensile 11, and 2,

Anyone, who would like to do the mt. Lafayette , Lincoln and little haystack loop, please let me know, I'm in the green MSR hubba hubba tent , please come over and let me know, that's the hike I would like to do

    July 20

  • Kirill

Picking up Alan from Seacacus between 4 and 5pm. Have room for more passengers.

    July 20

  • Kirill

Going to try Pemi, will start at 3 am. Happy to take passengers. Coming from central NJ, can pick up at Seacaucus or other train stations. Call 201-936-0707. Due to my slow pace, I will be hiking slower than the group, not with them. Sorry, was undecided until last night

    July 20

  • Shoaib

i might be able to get a zipcar if enough are interested.

    July 20

  • Alan R.

If anyone still has room, please contact me at 347-239-4315 asap. Otherwise, I suggest that future trips consist of not fewer than 25% drivers.

    July 20

  • Shoaib

Chris, I could hike with you at that pace. Do you have a ride? email me at shoaib@shoaib.me.

    July 20

  • jooy

Carla-- what make/color is your car? (so we can find you at camp, just in case)...

    July 20

  • jooy

Francisco-- start time still 3AM for loopers? Chris-- Me Josh Anne are undecided. (I'm just back from injury, so I'm considering bailing after the Bonds around Galehead or Lafayette etc., abt 20 mi.)

    July 20

  • Chris D.

I'm seriously considering joining but don't feel like hiking this solo. Who all is doing the pemi and what type of pace are you thinking? For myself, 14-16 hours seems realistic.

If they can do it we can do it. Those guys were booking it.

I'll do my best.... Remember, Carla is in charge (her car), so I will ask her to do so.

  • Francisco

Lou, you guys please save us a few spots and text me. You might not have cell reception at the campsite so please drive a few miles towards lincoln until you do.

    July 19

  • Leslie

Does anybody have a spot for one more in their car leaving Friday afternoon? Thanks!

    July 19

  • Lou

Hopefully, it should be Carla & I... Anyone up for the mt. Lafayette little haystack mountain loop??? That's what I plan to do.

    July 19

  • Francisco

Hancock campground is about a quarter of a mile from Lincoln that is why I picked it. This we don't need to drive anywhere. Also I would like to ask the first person to arrive to save us 3 campsites and text me the number so that I can text everyone else. Who is arriving first?

    Sun rises at around 0500.

    July 19

  • Francisco

The bonds though would make for an spectacular sunrise and it is much easier to bail out in the Franconia ridge.

Sergey--parking at Lincoln Woods trailhead is $3 day pass or $5 consecutive 7-day pass. There is a dropbox for envelopes with cash (which is really easy to miss when coming there in the dark and if you don't know you need to look for one) :)

    July 19

  • Francisco

Depends on weather. I have been thinking on starting at 0100 to catch the sunrise at one of the peaks. What do you guys think?

    1 · July 19

  • jooy

    Pemi-looping via Franconia 1st or Bonds 1st? Campground is cash only ($20-22/site; self-svc pay stn @ entr). Bail-out rides-- if you can't hitch a ride back, try a taxi svcs (prob ~ $60+): 603-348-7238; 603-745-8294; 603-348-7245; 603-745-3140.

    Hi!
Is it hard to find spot for tent in Hancock campground after 10pm? Do I need to register somwhere when drive in? Cars and tents in same spot or it have separate parking lot? Is parking lot free on pemi loop trailhead ?

    July 19

  • Lou

    Should we bring bear canisters?

    July 19

  • Francisco

Guys if anyone has spots in their car to fill please post it here so that people who need rides can contact you.

    July 19

  • Leslie

Is anyone driving up later in the day on Friday?

    July 18

  • Lou

If anyone has available space in their car, I would greatly appreciated if they can give me a ride for this weekend pemi loop camping trip. I can meet anywhere in the city, at anytime. I'll chip in more than my share of expenses

    July 18

  • Alan R.

I am still looking for a ride from the NYC boroughs or close to them: if anyone has space I'd greatly appreciate it.

    July 17

  • Chuck

I am maybe at the moment. Will drop or confirm tonight; sorries.

  • Lou

    Hey Mackenzie
. Thank you so much for the heads up notice. I appreciated..

    July 17

  • Mackenzie

Hey Lou, maybe try Chris for a ride? I have a work conflict, alas, this weekend.

    July 17

  • Lou

    Hey Francisco,
I guess I have to change my RSVP to a no, not because I don't wanna go, because I can't find a ride... So, I figure I change it to a no asap, cause I don't wanna get in that special list you have... Thank you

    July 17

  • Francisco

Also anyone not coming anymore please change your RSVP to No ASAP. Trust me you don't want to join my very special list.

    July 16

  • Francisco

Also please guys those doing the Pemi Loop, you need to get a map from EMS of the Franconia Ridge in the White Mountains. My favorite map is the Map Adventures White Mountains map.

    http://www.ems.com/product/inde...

You can pick up one at EMS. It is waterproof and tearproof.

I have updated the meetup with directions to Hancock Campground near Lincoln, NH.

I think if it is hot we might just go find a swimming hole on Sunday actually. If my legs work they might only make it to a waterfall on Sunday.

    July 16

  • Chris Mayville

    I'm full now

    July 15

  • Carla Simons

I'll be driving from New Jersey, space for 3. Probably very early Friday, 4-5AM? Moosi sounds like a good Sunday plan, assuming i can walk! Very pretty views that I didn't really appreciate last time because I was afraid of the doom clouds heading in!

    July 15

  • Lou

I most definitely want to go on this trip. However, I need a ride. I can leave anytime on Friday, the earlier the better... You can reach me here or via cell phone: 917-531-8304, will help with all the expenses. Thank you

Hey, folks, is anyone driving early Fri from Manhattan/Brooklyn area? Chuck, Josh, when are you guys taking off? I need a ride, interested in Franconia not sure about the Presi though...

    July 13

  • mike popp

Not sure what I'll be doing. Did the pemi backpack already. Maybe a long day hike this time for a change?

    1 · July 13

  • Chuck

I am thinking Franconia myself, as it shares so many letters with name of fearless leader, with Presi as plan B if the weather isn't having it for Sat. Moosi or Cupi on Sun sounds about right to me, too.

    July 11

  • Jutta

I meant to suggest a 2day Pemi Loop Backpack. Alternatively Franconia and Moosilauke sounds good to me.

    July 11

  • Alan R.

Correction: either Franconia or Pres on Sat., and something like Moosilauke or Cupicabra or whatever it's called on Sun.
